A Severn man who was shot once in the face Saturday night was in serious but stable condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.

Cameron Scott Catron, 19, of the 1800 block of Rutledge Court had gone to the 1800 block of Arwell Court to visit two friends about 11:30 p.m., police said. After finding that his friends were not home, Mr. Catron went back to his car.

He was sitting in the car when a man walked up and put a blue steel pistol against his left temple, police said. Mr. Catron was shot in the left side of the face near his mouth as he tried to grab the gun.

The gunman ran off after the shooting and has not been found, police said.
