Fires set in three trash containers

Three trash containers on Liberty Road and Ridgeville Boulevard were set on fire between 2:38 a.m. and 4:04 a.m. Friday, according to fire officials.

Winfield firefighters responded to the first call at South Carroll High and were out of service for 20 minutes. Just 33 minutes later, the same engine was dispatched to Liberty Road at Woodbine Road, about four blocks west of the school, for another trash container. They were out for 25 minutes.

At 4:04 a.m., a fire was discovered in a trash container on Ridgeville Boulevard in Mount Airy. Firefighters from the town responded to the third fire and extinguished it. They were out for 45 minutes.
