Poly grads together at Gator Bowl

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A couple of Poly grads will be on opposite sides of the field in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 30.

Antonio Freeman, second-team All-Big East Conference as a kick returner, will conclude his career at Virginia Tech. Also a split end, Freeman holds school career and single-season records for touchdown catches.

Greg Kyler, a freshman wide receiver for Tennessee, hasn't played this season and will be a red-shirt unless injuries force the Vols to use him in the Gator. Kyler is certain to be on the sideline with an eye on Freeman even if he isn't in uniform.

Another Poly grad, Tramont Evans, a first-team All-Patriot League selection, was named Lafayette's Most Valuable Receiver after finishing second on the team in receptions (32) and first in yards (722) and touchdowns (seven), including five scores in the final three games.

Evans, a junior, is tied for seventh on the school's all-time touchdown receptions list with 10.

* Lehigh defensive end David Sunderland (Mount St. Joe) finished his sophomore season with 30 tackles and two sacks.

Basketball

Senior Todd Kerr (Park) was named Player of the Week after Hampden-Sydney set a school record for victories to start a season (seven). Kerr scored a season-high 20 points against previously undefeated Bridgewater, contributing four rebounds, two steals and a block.

* At Randolph-Macon, Stacey Lippert (Seton Keough), as the lone senior, is expected to serve as playmaker, as well as lead the offense, while freshman Ken Krabitz (Mount St. Joseph) is trying to break into the men's lineup.

* Guard Kacy Williams (Hammond) leads Georgetown in assists with 25 in five games. . . . As a Bucknell freshman, Kristen Lloyd (Mount Hebron) is averaging 5.1 points and 17 minutes per game. . . .
