25 Years Ago (Week of Dec. 7-13, 1969):

* An off-duty Howard County police officer apprehended a 14-year-old Baltimore resident for alleged possession of burglar's tools. The officer's girlfriend had noticed the youth carrying a ladder to the rear of the MacAlpine Pharmacy at around 11 p.m. Saturday.

* Vice President Spiro T. Agnew and his entourage were detained in an accident-related traffic tie-up on U.S. 29 while en route to a party in Pikesville honoring the vice president and his late father. Mr. Agnew and his group were transported to Waterloo State Police barracks, and then driven to their destination.

50 Years Ago (Week of Dec. 10-16, 1944):

* Mrs. Slade Wilderson of Elkridge became a member of the Gallon Club by donating her eighth pint of blood to the Red Cross for the war effort.
