Six businesses, individuals and families have agreed to clean up a one- to three-mile stretch of Harford County roadway since the "Adopt-A-Road" program was initiated early last month.
For a minimum of two years, these countians will pick up litter as needed along their adopted stretch of road. A major spring cleanup is scheduled for April.
Participants are provided with removable safety warning signs, safety vests, plastic trash bags and blue recycling bags. A road sign inscribed with the caretaker's name is placed at each end of the adopted section.
With some 900 miles of county roads in Harford, many more participants are needed. Groups, businesses, families and individual county residents can volunteer. Participants must at least be 12 years old and groups with members under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.
