Two charged in acts of vandalism

Two Taneytown-area men were arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property in connection with several incidents in the the Taneytown area. Police said the vandalism took place over a period of about two months and caused about $6,000 in damage.

Jesse Bauerlein, 19, of Mayberry Road was charged with 20 counts of malicious destruction of property, and Leon Adler, 20, of Bert Koontz Road was charged with five counts of the same offense, officers said. Each of the misdemeanors carries a maximum sentence of three years imprisonment, a $2,500 fine or both, officials said.

Taneytown police said Sgt. Greg Woelfel and Cpl. Mark Lott stopped a vehicle in which two men were riding and recovered a slingshot and steel pellets.
