The Interchurch Medical Assistance (I.M.A.) program of New Windsor Service Center has been ranked second among relief and development organizations by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the newspaper of the nonprofit world.

The newspaper ranked 400 American nonprofit organizations according to the amount of private contributions they received and expenses made for program services and fund-raising.

In the category of relief and development organizations, I.M.A. ranked second among 36 major organizations in the lowest amount used to raise money for its work, spending less than 1 percent.

In 1993, I.M.A. had an income of $21,124,264, but used only $73,732 for fund-raising and program interpretation expenses.

I.M.A. is a private, nonprofit voluntary agency for the procurement and distribution of medical and hospital supplies for overseas health care ministries of Protestant churches and relief organizations.
