A man and woman from Chester were arrested on drug charges Sunday morning after being stopped by an off-duty police officer on U.S. 50 in Arnold, police said.

The officer, who was crossing the Severn River Bridge about 3 a.m. noticed a 1985 Mercury swerving in and out of traffic. He followed the car and stopped it on U.S. 50 near Bay Dale Drive, police said.

The officer smelled PCP when the woman driving the car rolled down the window, police said. The woman was arrested after she failed field sobriety tests. The officer searched the car after the arrest and found 44 grams of suspected PCP in the glove compartment and in a glass jar under one of the seats, police said.

Lisa Marie Williams, 34, of the 2600 block of Cox Neck Road, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of PCP and possession with intent to distribute PCP. Patrick Timothy Gray, 27, of the same address was charged with possession of PCP and possession with intent to distribute PCP, police said.
