"In Quest of Columbus," the 14th theatrical production by Stevens Forest Elementary School, will be staged Thursday and Friday at Oakland Mills High School.
Parents, families, neighbors and friends are invited to the show at 7:30 p.m. when the third- , fourth- and fifth-grade students are center stage.
Director Barry Palmer will be assisted by Caryl Pittiglio and Suzanne Tortolero.
Nina Clopton's music direction and Christine Estabrook's choreography of "Oh Gentle People" and "Samana Cay" are sure to enhance the production's original music and lyrics by Michael and Jill Gallina.
There are two casts with 35 characters each night, plus a chorus of 150 students. And since stage sets and lighting add much to XTC the production, Luella Gillespie and Susie Uccellini deserve kudos for their artistic talents, as well as Ural Hogans for directing the stage crew.
Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children. They may be purchased at SFES or at the door. Information: 313-6900.

Reminder: Village community centers will be closed from Dec. 23 until Jan. 2, 1995. The post office at Oakland Mills Village will also be closed the same days.

Columbia lost a friend and good neighbor two weeks ago. Cecelia "Perk" Spaulding leaves many happy memories she helped to create. She taught at Stevens Forest Nursery School for seven years; was always "available" for her sons and their teachers at Stevens Forest Elementary School; worked with her Scouting sons, Tom, Andy and Jeff, and their troops and was a dedicated spectator at their baseball games. My family, as did many others, benefited from her happy and positive approach to good, and less than good, times. We won't forget her.
