It didn't take Susan Wren long to make the transition from high school to college volleyball.
A star of Severna Park's 1993 state championship team, Wren was named as a West Virginia Wesleyan freshman to the All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second team. She had 1,093 assists, 112 kills, 42 blocks and 58 aces.
Wren's former teammate, Jen Conner, also a freshman, had 70 blocks in her first season at American.
* Laura Cook (Chesapeake-BC), a Penn State senior with a 3.14 grade-point average and an affinity for kills, was named to the All-Big Ten Academic Team.
Marshall senior Bridget Repsher (Howard), who finished as the school's second all-time leader in kills (1,185) and record holder for digs (29) in one match, was voted to the All-Southern Conference first team.
Football
Rocco Salomone, 29, who played two years at Arundel before moving to Carlisle, Pa., is the new head coach at his alma mater, SUNY-Brockport, after two years as defensive coordinator.
* Freshman running back Lawrence Worthington (Edgewood) set Liberty rushing records for a season (1,224 yards) and a game (303 on 33 carries against Charleston Southern).
* Sophomore reserve quarterback Joe Unitas (St. Paul's), son of ex-Colt John, threw his first college touchdown pass in Ohio Wesleyan's victory over Kenyon.
Basketball
Senior guard Todd Kerr (Park) helped Hampden-Sydney to a 2-0 start by averaging 10.5 points, three assists and seven rebounds.
* Freshman Kacy Williams (Hammond) had 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in Georgetown's loss to Iowa State. . . . Christina Williamson (Mercy), a 5-foot-8 freshman, went right from soccer to basketball at Susquehanna and is expected to contribute at small forward. . . . Another freshman, Kristen Lloyd (Mount Hebron), is playing forward for Bucknell.
Soccer
Sophomore Terri Townslay (Howard) was Illinois College's leading scorer with 19 points on six goals and seven assists.
* East Carolina, 2-15 in its first year of intercollegiate women's soccer, will have its two leading scorers back next year in Robyn DePasquale (Mercy, Essex CC) and Stacey Schott (Franklin).
* Sophomore Jessica McLaughlin (Bel Air) was a defender on the Susquehanna team that registered five shutouts. . . . Senior fullback Fritz Boetzelen (St. Paul's) was Denison's No. 2 scorer
with nine goals and seven assists in 17 games.

In wrestling, twins Brandon and Justin Grodnitzky (Randallstown), will compete at the lower weights for Southwest State and sophomore Matt Slutzky (Aberdeen) is fighting for a job at 142 for Syracuse. . . . Virginia freshman midfielder Peggy Boutilier (Roland Park) made the South Region All-America field hockey second team. . . . Sophomore starting field hockey goalie Kristin Butler (Annapolis) finished with 152 saves and 42 goals allowed for Colgate (9-9). . . . Sophomore Chris Bembenek (South River) led East Carolina to swimming wins over Davidson and Georgia Southern by winning the 50-yard freestyle and 200 backstroke in both meets. . . . Senior Pat Rodrigues (Centennial) helped William & Mary to 18th place in the NCAA Division I cross country championships by placing 105th.
