25 Years Ago (week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6, 1969):

* An apprentice training program was set in place by the Howard County Board of Education. The program had been proposed by General Electric officials, the state Department of Vocational Education and the county's vocational department. Tool and die makers for General Electric's new manufacturing facility will be trained at the Howard County Vocational Technical Center.

50 Years Ago (Week of Dec. 3-9, 1944):

* The Warfield estate in Jessup was sold to W. E. Simpson of One Spot Farm in Elkridge. The estate included 45 acres of the 5,000 contained in the original land grant from King George III. The new owner planned to convert the house to several apartments. The acreage would be used as pasture for hogs and sheep.
