* Joseph W. Alton Jr., Anne Arundel County executive, said today the county government will not hire any more classified service employees during the next fiscal year. The 50 existing vacancies will remain vacant and all department heads were asked to better utilize the people they now have. -- The Sun, Dec. 11, 1969.

* The U. S. Naval Academy has announced a recent addition to the faculty of its electrical science department: Lt. D. C. Current. His father's name, of course, is A. C. Current. An academy spokesman said, "At first, I didn't believe it either." -- The Sun, Dec. 13, 1969.

* Children from Anne Arundel County's Millersville Elementary School have collected Christmas presents to give the children of the Ben Cvi Orphanage in Viet Nam. The gifts will be delivered by men of the First Division's Third Brigade. Capt. Craig Parker, operations officer, said the idea was his wife Sheila's who worked with the Millersville PTA. -- The Sun, Dec. 14, 1969.

* The Annapolis branch of the American National Bank of Maryland in the Parole shopping center was robbed yesterday of $1,000 by a young white man. FBI agents think it was the same man who held up a Glen Burnie bank Sept. 22. -- The Sun, Dec. 31, 1969.

* The Public Service Commission hearing on the route of two power lines through Anne Arundel County linking the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant with the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company system adjourned without a final decision. There was strong opposition from environmental groups to the 25-mile path proposed through the center of the county. -- The Sun, Jan. 1, 1970.
