Police identify city man slain in apparent robbery

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A man slain Monday in his ninth-floor apartment in a West Baltimore public housing complex was identified yesterday as 69-year-old John Dantzler, who was the victim of an apparent robbery.

Mr. Dantzler, who ran a small business for the elderly out of his home in the George B. Murphy Homes, was found dead by a friend who came to check on him at about 5:30 p.m. The victim had been stabbed repeatedly in the chest, police said.

No signs of forced entry were found and it is unclear what was taken, police said. Investigators said no suspects had been identified as of last night.
