Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke announced yesterday that two firms will move into South Harbor Business Incubator early next year, bringing the Key Highway business development center to full occupancy.
AssurQual Inc. and Fourth Mesa Inc., a health care information company and electronic publisher, respectively, have leased a combined 4,058 square feet.
The two firms combined employ 11 people, according to the Baltimore Development Corp., the city's economic development agency.
The South Harbor Business Incubator, on the third floor of 1414 Key Highway, is occupied by nine start-up or early-stage companies. The incubator was established to provide those companies downtown amenities and shared services.
AssurQual, which will relocate from Columbus, Ohio, was founded in 1989. It creates computer software to improve health care provided by post-hospital care facilities. The company plans to employ 30 within the next three years.
Fourth Mesa, a start-up firm begun eight months ago, generates access to the information highway's Internet link. The firm is working with Baltimore-based Waverly Inc. and others to develop applications for the Internet.
