As Christmas approaches, there are local holiday events to tempt your waistline and your pocketbook.

Tomorrow, the Bodkin Elementary School PTA invites shoppers to its 17th annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 8320 Ventnor Road.
The work of more than 70 artisans will be on sale. Santa, food, baked goods and refreshments will round out the event.
Proceeds will benefit PTA programs.

The Chesapeake High School Band Boosters is sponsoring "Breakfast at Santa's Workshop" from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Lake Shore Fire Company hall on Mountain Road, near Lake Shore Drive.
Pancakes, sausage, spiced apples, coffee, juice and milk are on the menu, and entertainment will be provided by "The Magic of Eric" at 10 a.m.
Holiday music will be provided by CHS band members.
The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Youngsters under 2 eat for free.
Proceeds will be used to purchase instruments for the band.
With seating limited, reservations are suggested.

Jenkins Memorial Church in Riviera Beach invites families to eat with Santa between 7 a.m. and noon tomorrow.
Elf helpers from the church Ways and Means Committee will be serving eggs, sausage, pancakes, home fries, creamed chipped beef, French toast, homemade biscuits and beverages.
Pictures with Santa will be available for a fee.
Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 12. Youngsters age 5 and under can eat for free.

Santa is not expected to visit the pancake breakfast at Magothy United Methodist Church tomorrow, but then, who knows?
The United Methodist Men will be serving breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall, 3703 Mountain Road.
Menu items include flapjacks, sausage, hominy, applesauce, juice and coffee.
The cost is $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.
Proceeds will benefit church projects and the upper room fund.

Lake Shore Baptist Church, 4613 Mountain Road, will kick off the Christmas season on Sunday with a youth ministry night starting at 7 p.m.
The evening will begin with the debut of the puppet ministry telling the Christmas story "like you've never heard it before," said Gloria Kraus, church spokeswoman.
The youth choir will perform songs of the season.
Members of the drama team will bring the evening to a close, telling the story of Christmas before it ever began here on Earth.
Fellowship time and refreshments will be served after the performance.

The recreation committee of the Chesterfield Homeowners Association is sponsoring two holiday events this month for community residents.
The annual children's Christmas party will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Riviera Beach fire hall on Fort Smallwood Road.
Climb up on Santa's knee, watch the magic show and giggle at the clown. Lunch will be provided for young visitors.

All Chesterfield residents are eligible for the annual holiday house and yard decorating contest with judging to take place during the evening hours Dec. 18.
To participate, just turn on your lights. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated door/windows, best landscaping, and best overall in the Tower Bridge and Crystal Palace pool areas.
All six winners will be notified that evening and will have a recognition sign posted in their yard.

The Stoney Creek Democratic Club is having a party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at its clubhouse on Fort Smallwood Road.
Admission is $7 and includes a platter, chips, pretzels, beer and setups. Dance music will be supplied by Al Baitch.
