Yesterday's Anne Arundel edition of The Sun incorrectly reported the condition of a Pasadena man who was struck by a car Wednesday as he walked on Fort Smallwood Road. Maryland Shock Trauma Center computer records had not noted that Marion Christian Vonfessen died of his injuries the same day.
The Sun regrets the error.
An 81-year-old Riviera Beach man was struck by a car as he walked down the middle of Fort Smallwood Road on Wednesday morning and was treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, county police said yesterday.
Marion Christian Vonfessen of the 1200 block of Carroll Road was walking in the southbound lane of the street near Manchester Road about 6 a.m. when he was hit by a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Martin Jay Coleman Sr., 34, of the 800 block of New London Harbour in Pasadena, police said.
Mr. Coleman told police he did not see Mr. Vonfessen until the last instant and swerved to avoid him. Police did not file any charges.
Mr. Vonfessen was discharged from Shock Trauma around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, a spokesman for the hospital said.
