Former Baltimore Orioles executive Robert R. Aylward joined ad agency Image Dynamics Inc. as executive vice president, the firm said yesterday.
Initially, Mr. Aylward's duties will center on finding new business, but eventually he'll take over some administrative duties, executives said.
Phyllis B. Brotman, the firm's 60-year-old chief executive, said Mr. Aylward's appointment doesn't signal her retirement.
"I'm continuing my role as head of the agency," she said. "Nothing's changed in the agency except the addition of Bob to the management team."
Barbara Brotman Kaylor continues as the firm's president.
Image Dynamics, based in Baltimore, has 22 employees with advertising and public relations clients that include Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland, Nottingham Properties and Black & Decker Corp.
As vice president for business affairs at the Orioles for many years, Mr. Aylward's duties included recruiting corporate sponsors and marketing.
His new job "is going to be very similar in that it's dealing with the business community and with the marketing, media and communications business," Mr. Aylward said. "It's going to be with a lot of the same people I have gotten to know over the years with the Orioles."
Mr. Aylward, 41, left the Orioles early this year and has been consulting since then.
He was among several front-office managers to leave the team after Peter G. Angelos took over as owner before the past season.
