Police search for man in dairy store robbery

The High's Dairy Store in the 400 block of East Main Street in Westminster was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, state police said.

Investigators said a man entered the store and took merchandise to the cash register. After placing the items on the counter, the man pulled a handgun from his waistband, showed it to the clerk and demanded the money in the register.

The clerk removed the cash from the register and placed it in a book bag carried by the suspect. The suspect fled on foot. No vehicle was seen.

Police said the suspect was a white man in his early 20s, about six feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a blue and gray flannel shirt, black pants and black tennis shoes.

POLICE

* Westminster: A resident of New Windsor told city police someone broke into his auto parked on Liberty Street and stole a brown leather jacket Friday. He estimated its value at $120.

Another New Windsor resident told city police someone shattered a window of his car while it was parked on Liberty Street on Friday and stole property. He estimated the damage and loss at $500.

FIRE

* Sandymount: Reese engines responded to a brush fire behind the High's Dairy Store in the 2400 block of Baltimore Blvd. at 4:45 p.m. yesterday. They returned to the same location at 5:38 p.m. when another fire was discovered. Units were out about 20 minutes on each incident.
