1955 Chevy stripped of transmission, parts
Thieves with a taste for vintage automobiles stripped a 1955 Chevrolet 210 of its transmission, drive shaft and shifter while it was parked at an Odenton home.
John Franklin Perry, 32, of the 1300 block of Rosanna Drive told police Tuesday that he had stored the car at a friend's house on Odenton Road. He checked the car Nov. 25 and found it to be in perfect running condition, police said.
Mr. Perry checked the car again Monday and discovered the theft of $1,000 worth of parts, police said.
Police have no suspects in the theft.
2 women charged in fax machine theft
Two Arbutus women were arrested and charged with stealing a $400 fax machine from the Wal-Mart in Laurel Tuesday afternoon, county police said.
Cindy M. Krauss, 24, and Sharon A. Weckesser, 32, both of the 5500 block of Rockleigh Drive, were charged with theft over $300, police said.
A security officer at the store in the 3500 block of Russett Green noticed a woman enter the store shortly before 4:30 p.m. and put the fax machine into a shopping cart. She then went to another part of the store and met another woman.
The security officer told police that the women put the machine into a Wal-Mart shopping bag they had brought with them and walked out of the store without paying for it.
The security officer stopped the women and held them until a Western District officer arrived, police said.

* Jessup: Someone stole more than $2,500 worth of electronic equipment from a home in the 7700 block of Apple Ave. Police think someone with a key entered when the owner was away and took a $1,200 vacuum cleaner, an $800 stereo, a $280 color television set and a $250 video cassette recorder.
