COPPIN STATE (0-2)
Tonight: At Kansas, 8 p.m., WOLB (1010 AM). The Eagles face their most formidable test against the Top 10 Jayhawks. Kansas, coming off an 81-75 victory over top-ranked Massachusetts, figures to have too much for the Eagles, starting with size. Between 7-2 C Greg Ostertag, 6-11 F Raef LaFrentz and 6-10 F Scot Pollard, the Jayhawks will create rebounding and shot-blocking problems for Coppin State's frontcourt of C Mario McGriff, and forwards Michael Thomas and Stephen Stewart. Then there's Kansas point G Jacque Vaughn, who should provide headaches for the Eagles defense. If Coppin State intends to pull off the biggest upset in school history, its matchup zone defense must be in top form, the Eagles must stay out of foul trouble, point G Sidney Goodman must handle Vaughn's defensive pressure, and Goodman, Keith Carmichael and Kyle Locke need to hit the open outside shots they can create.
