R. Morris halts UMBC, 76-63

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Gabe Jackson scored 19 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, leading Robert Morris to a 76-63 victory over UMBC in a nonconference game last night.

With the game tied at 36 early in the second half, Robert Morris (1-2) went on an 11-0 run to pull out to a 47-36 lead with 12:08 remaining in regulation. Terre Stuart scored four of his 17 points during the run.

The Retrievers (0-2) closed to within 61-57 with 2:58 left after a three-pointer by Marc Lay, but three free throws by Dax Cosby and two by Seth Truman helped Robert Morris pull away.

Lay led UMBC with 15 points.
