Towson State's men's basketball program gained a prestigious opponent yesterday when the school announced that Louisville and Basketball Hall of Fame coach Denny Crum will come to the Towson Center for a game Jan. 30.
"We've worked diligently over the past several years to arrange a series between Towson State and Louisville," Towson State coach Terry Truax said. "It shows the credibility of Coach Crum to be willing to take his team to an opponent's arena. This is a great event for Towson State, and it's great for the Baltimore area."
Louisville, which won NCAA championships in 1980 and 1986 under Crum , worked with Towson State and Dayton to address a scheduling mistake. The Cardinals competed in the Great Alaska Shootout, but mistakenly counted two games toward their official schedule.
To fill out their schedule, Louisville agreed to come to Towson State, and Truax relinquished Towson's Dec. 29 game against ** Dayton. Louisville will play Dayton that day. Towson State will play two future games at Louisville. The first game probably will be played next season.
Tickets for the Jan. 30 game are $10 for reserved seats, $5 for general admission. For more information, call (410) 830-8447.
