Woman held on check forgery charges

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 24-year-old Westminster area woman was held in lieu of $10,000 bail after being charged with 58 counts of forgery and related charges in the theft of almost $4,000 from her mother's bank account between April and July.

Mary Katherine Reardon, who gave police no address, was charged with 19 counts each of forgery, uttering and theft and one count of using a scheme to extract $3,869 from her mother's account at the Taneytown Bank and Trust Co. branch office in the 400 block of Englar Road. Ms. Reardon had been held in lieu of $20,000 full bond, but that was reduced Wednesday.

Police said Bonnie Reardon discovered that the money was missing when her bank statement showed many withdrawals from her account that she had not made. Bank officials identified the person who had made the withdrawals from a picture Bonnie Reardon provided.

Investigators said a person forged Bonnie Reardon's name on withdrawal slips and presented them to tellers at the bank. The 19 withdrawals ranged from $30 to $450.
