Charles Village approves tax

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Residents of Charles Village will be Baltimore's first to pay extra property taxes to keep streets clean and to hire security guards to patrol the neighborhood.

The residents decided, by more than 2-1 in a recent referendum, to impose the new tax to pay for the extra services. Results were announced yesterday. The revenue raised by the tax will be used to hire 12 security guards, three cleanup workers and an administrator to oversee the program.
