A fire of undetermined origin destroyed a Randallstown home yesterday afternoon, but three children in the house escaped injury.
Kevin Frank, 8, who lived in the house in the 4700 block of Belle Forte Road with his family, said he came home yesterday about 4 p.m.
"I went through the back door. . . . When I came out, I saw a light. I turned and looked and I saw the fire," he said.
He said he started to call for help from a kitchen phone when his brother, Chris Frank, 6, and a friend, Terrell DeMinds, 11, grabbed him and pulled him and two dogs out of the burning brick rancher.
The blaze was under control in about 20 minutes, according to Battalion Chief Harry Pryor of the Baltimore County Fire Department. He said that the interior of the two-story brick home was ruined but that no one was hurt.
"I want to know how it started," said Larry Elegino, Kevin's uncle, who lived in the house. Chief Pryor said the blaze will be investigated.
Myra Davis-Pope, who lives next door, said, "When I came home around 3:40, everything was fine. Then around 10 minutes later, someone was banging on the door saying 'Fire!' It just went so fast."
Asked how he felt when he realized the fire was burning, Kevin said, "Warm."
