Mount rips Bucknell, 79-47

Susie Rowlyk had 22 points and nine rebounds, both game highs, to lead Mount St. Mary's (1-1) to a 79-47 victory over visiting Bucknell (0-1) yesterday.

The Mountaineers went on a seven-point run to open the second half, shot 60 percent and went on to outscore the Bison 47-21.

The Mountaineers' Kris Bryant added 10 second-half points and finished with 13.

K. C. Vlah and Casey Hollister led Bucknell with 10 points apiece.

* Niagara 68, Navy 56: Jen Nelson scored 22 points and Shannon Graham added 21 to pace Niagara past host Navy (1-1) in the championship of the Tip-Off Tournament.

Niagara rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit, shooting 50 percent from the field and 62.5 from the free-throw line in the second half.

Navy sophomore Adria Schneck led all scorers with a career-high 23. Junior Kate Wells scored the first 10 points for Navy, including two three-pointers, and finished with 14.

Davidson defeated UNC-Wilmington, 68-39, in the consolation game.

* Cornell 70, UMBC 47: Keri Farley and Mary LaMacchia split top scoring honors with 18 as host Cornell (1-1) defeated UMBC (0-2) in the Sheraton Classic Consolation game.

* Santa Clara 90, Morgan State 45: Kirsten Smith led all scorers with 22 points as Santa Clara (1-1) beat Morgan State (0-2) in the third-place game of the Courant Connecticut Classic.

Kaira Warfield led Morgan State with 12 points.

Jenny Baldwin added 17 points for Santa Clara.
