Copper teakettle could bring $100

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Q: I have a copper teakettle that has been in my family for more than 100 years. It is 9 inches high, has a gooseneck spout with a hinged lid, and the handle moves from side to side.

What is its value?

A: A copper teakettle made in the 19th century would probably be valued around $100 to $125.

Q: I inherited a five-piece place setting and service-for-10 silverware. Each piece is marked "Lady Doris Silverplate." This name is not familiar to me or my acquaintances. Is this set of any value?

A: "Lady Doris," also known as "Princess," was made by Rogers & Bros. in 1929. The value of your silver-plated flatware would probably be about $175 to $225.
