LAHAINA, Hawaii -- The Maryland basketball team will play in a two-day, four-team tournament next season at USAir Arena with Massachusetts, George Washington and Florida, Terps coach Gary Williams said.
Williams said the tournament will be played for charity. In the opening round, the Terps will play George Washington, with Florida and Massachusetts going in the other game.
"It'll probably be the first week of December," said Williams. "Right now it's a one-year deal, but I think we want to have it every year."
The Terps also are scheduled to open next season at the Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, Mass., against Kentucky. This year's Classic will be played today between defending national champion Arkansas, the No. 1 team in the country, and No. 3 Massachusetts.
