Members of the Carroll County Narcotics Task Force and Baltimore County Police recovered more than a pound of suspected marijuana and three loaded guns when they raided a house in the 800 block of Washington Road and arrested a 36-year-old man early yesterday.
Stuart P. Capps was charged with manufacturing and distributing marijuana and was held on $5,000 bond after a hearing before a court commissioner.
He was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, according to court documents.
Investigators, armed with a search and seizure warrant, said they raided the house at 6 a.m. yesterday and found Mr. Capps in the second-floor bedroom.
A loaded .44-caliber revolver was within reach of the bed, they said. Also found in the bedroom was a loaded 12-gauge pump shotgun and a loaded .22-caliber rifle.
Officers recovered a plastic bag from the bedroom dresser, another bag from under Mr. Capps' mattress and a grocery bag containing three large plastic bags from a cedar closet, all containing suspected marijuana.
It was already packaged for distribution, they said.
In the basement of the house, police discovered a homemade growing area with high-intensity lights.
A map showing the location of several additional growing plants was also recovered.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
