A 25-year-old Columbia woman was accidentally shot in the leg while handling a gun Monday, Howard County police said.
Anna Maria Fisher, 25, of the 8900 block of Skyrock Court in Kings Contrivance, was listed in serious, but stable condition yesterday at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
According to police, Ms. Fisher was examining her roommate's .357-caliber Magnum inside their home about 4:30 p.m. Monday when the gun fired.
Ms. Fisher was hit in the left leg just above her knee.
Rescue workers from the Rivers Park station responded and drove Ms. Fisher to the hospital for treatment, fire officials said.
Police confiscated the gun as part of their investigation of the incident, which they believe to be accidental.
No charges are pending, said Howard County Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Keller.
