A man held up a Finksburg bank early yesterday and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
Investigators said the man walked up behind an employee as she was opening the front door of the Carroll County Bank and Trust Co. branch in the Finksburg Shopping Center, at Routes 140 and 91.
He told the woman he had a gun, but none was seen during the robbery, police said.
He forced the woman to open the night vault and place two bank bags into a blue plastic bag he had with him, police said. He fled out the rear door of the bank.
The robber was last seen on foot, but investigators said they believe he had a vehicle parked nearby.
They said the employee notified state police immediately after the robber fled. She was not injured.
State police said the man was described as white, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds and wearing a blue Notre Dame corduroy baseball cap, a gray turtleneck shirt and a turquoise pullover sweater.
He was also wearing a gray sweat shirt with the hood pulled up over his cap, gray pants, hiking boots and gloves, police said.
Police searched the area without success after the man's description was broadcast within minutes of the robbery.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to notify the criminal investigation division of the state police at 876-2101 or 848-3111.
