A 25-year-old woman was sentenced yesterday to six months in jail for her role in a a May 1 car accident in Glen Burnie that killed her passenger.
Melissa Ann Kramp of the 3200 block of Lily Ave. in Baltimore also was ordered by Circuit Judge Raymond G. Thieme Jr. to perform 400 hours of community service and serve five years' probation.
Kramp was convicted in September of homicide by motor vehicle after a short trial.
Assistant State's Attorney Darryl Jones said Kramp was driving east on Mountain Road near Route 10 about 9:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 1992 Dodge Shadow, went off the road, struck a traffic sign and slammed into a utility pole.
Kramp's passenger, Mark A. Uhlig, 26, of the 1700 block of Selma Ave. in Arbutus was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a blood alcohol test conducted after the accident showed Kramp's alcohol level to be 0.15 percent. The state's standard for intoxication is 0.10 percent.
Sam Goody employee attacked and robbed
An employee of the Sam Goody store in Governor Plaza was attacked and robbed yesterday as she was opening the Ritchie Highway store for business, county police said.
Michelle Lynn Hennessey, 23, of Glen Burnie told police she was carrying a money bag shortly before 10 a.m., when she was struck on the left shoulder by a man who threatened, "If you don't give me the bag, it'll be worse."
The man grabbed the bag, and he and an accomplice ran across a parking lot. Ms. Hennessey said one of the men had a knife in the waistband of his trousers, authorities said.
