Man attempts to grab boy, 6, in store aisle

Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 6-year-old Glen Burnie boy Tuesday from an Ames department store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway.

The boy was standing in the toy aisle around 3:30 p.m. when a man came up, grabbed his arm and said, "You're a nice little boy," police said.

The boy's grandmother, who was standing a few feet away, turned when she heard the boy's voice. She told police she saw the man pulling her grandson up the aisle. The man released the boy and walked out of the store when the grandmother called out, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, with short, dark hair and about 20 to 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and white-and-blue, knee-length shorts, police said.

Man robs bank, then drives away

A man walked into the Nations Bank branch in the 7900 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. about 12:30 p.m. yesterday, handed the teller a note demanding money, then made off with an undisclosed sum, police. said.

Police said the man did not indicate that he had a weapon. After the robbery, he walked to a copper-colored, older-model car and drove east on Mountain Road.

The man was described as black, 35 to 40 years old, with mustache and beard. He was wearing a brown or beige plaid jacket, police said.
