Firefighters seek food for needy families

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a food basket drive for needy families in the Elkridge area. Members are seeking food donations to help defray the cost of about 30 baskets.

Needed are: Stove Top Dressing, canned gravy, cranberry sauce, sauerkraut, green beans, corn and other

vegetables, canned yams or sweet potatoes and juices. Drop food off anytime at the Fire Department, 6275 Washington Road, Elkridge.

Turkeys, margarine, frozen pies and other perishables will be accepted by contacting Capt. Joe Slawotinek at 796-1624. He will arrange to have the donations put in a freezer. Information: fire station, 313-4901.

* Ellicott City: 8500 block of Route 40: A black 1993 Infiniti J30 was stolen from the Acura West dealer Friday, police said.

* Elkridge: 7300 block of Route 1: A brown 1979 Ford F-150 with Maryland tags 58B 218 was stolen Thursday, police said.

6300 block of Bayberry: Thieves stole appliances from two condominiums under construction between Friday and Monday, police said.
