Halloween tourney scares up winners

The Parents Coaches Association conducted a Halloween Singles Tournament at Bowl America Odenton.

Youth tenpin bowlers competed in six divisions with a three-game set of qualifying to determine the five stepladder finalists in each division.

Mickey Meehan of Bowl American Odenton rolled a 251 game to defeat Justin McCreedy of Greenway Bowl Odenton and win the Division I Handicap event.

David Falls of Bowl America Glen Burnie, bowling against Mickey Meehan's brother, Matt, posted a 122 game to become Division I scratch champion.

Chrissy Chrisakis, bowling out of Fair Lanes Dundalk, scored a 246 to secure first place in the Division II Handicap.

Ryan Anderson, a Glen Burnie resident, shot a 220 to win the Division II scratch crown.

Doug Kidwell of Laurel, in a game of nip and tuck against Jason Lewis, a Fair Lanes Capital Plaza bowler, prevailed with a 208-204 victory in the Division III Handicap event.

Deon Richards of Laurel pounded out a 221 game in the Division III scratch competition to defeat Jason Huestis of Greenway Bowl.

Team Champions

Team Champion -- that's the name of the five-member team that became Brunswick World Bowling Team Challenge champions at ABC Lanes West in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Lee Brosius of Odenton was a member of that team that competed against 71 teams from 12 states for the right to bowl in Reno, Nev., next July for the championship and $25,000 first-place prize money.

After qualifying in the top 10, Team Champion -- Brosius, Brian Bever, Mike Wheeler, Karl Schmidt and Bruce Hollen -- won seven of nine matches against the other nine teams to be top-seeded for the television finals against Trophies Unlimited and Hoinke Classic of Cincinnati.

After Trophies Unlimited defeated Hoinke, Team Champion took the lanes and, in a two-game match that went down to the last frame, captured the crown and a check for $2,900.
