Lt. C. Scott Sudduth, a fire investigator with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, received the Maryland Arson Investigators Association's 1993 Leo J. Sullivan Award for distinguished service.
State Fire Marshal Rocco J. Gabriele, president of the group, presented the award during a ceremony yesterday at the county's fire training academy in Millersville.
Lieutenant Sudduth made 40 percent of the arrests in his nine-member office last year. Besides investigating fires, he keeps statistics for his unit and is its firearms instructor and weapons repairman.
A Crofton resident, Mr. Sudduth, 47, has been a county firefighter for 26 1/2 years and a fire investigator for the past 10 years.
