Four cars damaged at Harbour Gates apartments

Three cars were broken into and another was damaged Saturday morning during apparently related thefts from cars on the parking lot of the Harbour Gates apartments in the 600 block of Admiral Drive, county police reported yesterday.

The first incident was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. and the last shortly after noon. All cars had been parked on the lot Friday night.

The owner of a 1994 Ford Thunderbird told a Southern District officer that the driver's door and trunk locks of his car were damaged when someone tried to open them.

The other three cars were convertibles. Someone slashed the tops of each car and unlocked a door to get in, police said.

The owner of a 1990 Mazda Miata reported a $100 cellular telephone was stolen from her car; a woman who owns a 1993 Geo Metro had a $200 radar detector and a $75 pair of sunglasses taken from her car; and the owner of another 1990 Mazda Miata told police a thief got a $1000 compact disc stereo player and two speakers worth $800 from her vehicle.
