William F. Emswiler, 50, an executive of Perkin-Elmer Corp., and his wife, Barbara White Emswiler, 48, were among those killed in a helicopter crash in Mexico on Nov. 1. They were residents of Fairfield, Conn. Mr. Emswiler, a Baltimore native, joined Perkin-Elmer, a maker of scientific instruments based in Norwalk, Conn., as a vice president and chief financial officer in 1992. His wife was a nurse in the Fairfield school system.
John McCormick, 80, known for decades as "the man who walks and talks at midnight" on KMOX radio in St. Louis, died Saturday. He was the early morning voice of KMOX for 31 years before retiring in 1989.
Willard Wankelman, 78, founder and former director of the Bowling Green State University art school, died Friday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Erwin E. Kelm, 83, who led Cargill Inc. through a period of rapid growth in the 1970s that helped propel the agribusiness giant to its position as the nation's largest family-owned company, died on Sunday at his home in Minneapolis after a lengthy struggle with heart disease.
