Man charged in BB gun holdup of cabdriver
County police arrested a Ferndale man Friday morning and charged him in the armed robbery of a Catonsville cabdriver, authorities said.
Roy Dion Kauffin, 26, of the 6400 block of Grafton Garth Court was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon.
The alleged victim, Robert Bruce Wright, 48, was not injured, police said.
According to police reports, Mr. Wright drove two men to Ferndale about 2 a.m. after driving them to several bars in Baltimore. He dropped off one of the men and took the other to Grafton Garth Court and Heritage Hill Drive, where the passenger pulled a BB gun, police said.
Mr. Wright briefly struggled with the man for control of the weapon before the suspect got it back and demanded money. Mr. Wright gave him $54 and the suspect ran off.
Both passengers had mentioned their names during the drive and Mr. Wright gave the names to a Northern District officer. The officer located the first man, who claimed the second man had a BB gun and said he planned to rob someone. The second man was arrested at his home shortly before 3 a.m. and the BB gun was recovered, police said.
Severn woman loses $3,000 in burglary
A Severn woman returned to her apartment Thursday morning to discover that someone had broken into her home and stolen nearly $3,000 worth of property, county police said.
Christa Diane Perrigo, 22, left her apartment around midnight and arrived home about 11 a.m. The front door of her apartment had been jimmied open, police said.
The thief took her compact disc stereo player worth $640, a diamond ring worth $1,500 and a diamond bracelet worth $700, police said.
Police suspect the burglar left by the rear sliding door.
Ex-judge's home is hit for $50,000
More than $50,000 worth of jewelry and silverware were stolen Tuesday morning from the home of a retired Anne Arundel Circuit judge in Amberley, county police said.
Eugene Mackall Childs, 76, told police the burglar used a screwdriver to pry open a rear window of his house between 11:15 a.m. and noon. Two footprints on a vinyl sofa near the window led police to believe that only one person was involved, police said.
Once inside, the burglar stole at least 24 pieces of jewelry from the master bedroom and at least 120 pieces of silver from the dining room.
The culprit left by either the front door or the window that was pried open. Technicians from the evidence control unit processed the scene for fingerprints, police said.
Mr. Childs was a Circuit Court judge from 1965 to 1981.
Jacks, poles taken from construction site
Construction crew members who arrived at their West County work site Thursday morning discovered that four pump jacks and poles worth $2,200 had been stolen, county police said.
Byeong In, 30, foreman of the construction crew, called police to the site in the 1600 block of Bear Paw Lane about 7:30 a.m.
Mr. In told a Western District officer that a man who lives in the neighborhood saw a red Chevrolet utility truck at the site around 10:30 the previous night.
The witness gave Mr. In a license tag number for the truck. The officer checked motor vehicle records in both Maryland and West Virginia for the number but it was not listed, police said.

Thief burglarizes Davidsonville home
A thief who broke into a Davidsonville home Thursday stole at least $4,600 worth of property, county police said.
Tammye Jayne Keola, 31, left her house at 6 a.m. and returned home shortly before 6 p.m. to discover the break-in.
A $4,000 John Deere riding lawn mower, a $300 Zenith color television and $300 worth of savings bonds were stolen, police said.
The thief also took a videocassette recorder, a chain saw and 200 record albums. Ms. Keola could not give a Southern District officer investigating the theft a value for those items, police said.
There were no signs of forced entry. One of Ms. Keola's neighbors told the officer that he saw a possible suspect at her house around 1 p.m., police said.
Lothian couple faces drug charges
Narcotics detectives raided a Lothian home Wednesday night and arrested a man and a woman on drug charges after seizing drug paraphernalia and small amounts of suspected PCP and marijuana, county police said.
Mark Augustus Mackall, 37, and Deborah Jean Palmer, 28, both of the 5100 block of Sands Road were each charged with possession of marijuana and PCP and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Detectives raided the home about 9 p.m. They found a film canister that contained pieces of foil with suspected PCP inside, a cellophane bag containing suspected marijuana, a partially burnt cigarette that contained suspected marijuana and rolling papers, police said.
Boy critically injured as truck hits bike
A 13-year-old Pasadena boy was critically injured Thursday afternoon when he was run over by a pickup truck, police said.
George Francis Kane Jr. of the 7800 block of Outing Ave. was playing with friends who chased him as he rode his bicycle
shortly after 4:30 p.m. on the parking lot of Lucky's store at Mountain Road and Outing Avenue. He rode onto Mountain Road and into the path of a 1986 Ford pickup truck driven by Linda Ann McNichol, 49, of the 700 block of 220th St. in Pasadena, police said.
The impact of the collision knocked the boy to the ground and under the right rear tire of the truck, which ran over him. He got up and walked to the shoulder of the road, where he collapsed. A Maryland State Police helicopter flew him to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said. He was in stable condition Friday afternoon.
Ms. McNichol will not be charged, police said.
Girls at bus stop face drug charge
A Northern District officer who was watching a bus stop in an unmarked car arrested two Glen Burnie girls Thursday morning and charged them as juveniles with possession of marijuana and tobacco products, county police said.
Officer Arthur Hatcher was working a special assignment after residents in the area of North Jerome Parkway and Bliss Lane complained of juveniles starting small paper fires and vandalizing the bus stop. He saw the two girls -- ages 13 and 14 -- smoking marijuana cigarettes shortly after 7:30 a.m., police said.
Officer Hatcher arrested both girls, one of whom claimed they found the marijuana on the sidewalk as they went to the bus stop. Officer Hatcher searched the girls and found cigarettes.
Both were released to their parents.
