Suspect questioned in fatal stabbing

BALTIMORE -- Police were interviewing a suspect in the stabbing death early todaya of a man who was attacked while sleeping in the bedroom of a house in the 1200 block of Gusryan St.

A woman sleeping next to the victim was not injured.

The victim, a 23-year-old resident of Fortview Way, was transported from the scene by ambulance to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he died shortly before 3 a.m.

Police said the victim was asleep shortly after midnight when a man entered the house and walked up the stairs.

After entering the bedroom, the intruder attacked the victim, stabbing him at least once in the chest.

The woman, whose relationship with the deceased was not immediately known, called the police.
