A Washington, D.C., woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the shoplifting of $800 worth of computer software from a store on Ritchie Highway, police said.
A security officer at the Comp USA store in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway told police that about 3:30 p.m. a woman walked into the store carrying what appeared to be an empty knapsack. About 10 minutes later, the woman was at the software display and the knapsack looked full, police said.
The security officer stopped the woman as she left the store. He found two graphics accelerators in the knapsack for which the woman had no receipts. An inventory of the software section revealed two such software packages missing. The woman was held until a Northern District officer arrived and took her into custody, police said.
Karen Kay Morse, 38, of the first block of 53rd St. N.E. was charged with theft over $300, police said.
