Head-on collision kills Westminster woman, 30

A 30-year-old West Friendship woman died early yesterday after being injured in a head-on collision in Ellicott City Monday morning, Howard County Police said.

Ellen Marie Delawder of the 13000 block of Frederick Road was pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore at 12:30 a.m., said Pfc. Paul Yodzis of the police department's Traffic Enforcement Section.

She suffered a pelvic fracture, spine and chest fractures and other injuries when her 1989 Nissan Sentra was struck head-on at 7:13 a.m. by an eastbound 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck on Homewood Road just west of McGee Way, police said.

Police said the driver of the truck lost control of his vehicle as he rounded a curve and crossed the center line.

Officers identified the driver as Randall Charles Collier, 34, of the 5700 block of Cedar Lane in Columbia. He was released yesterday from Howard County General Hospital after being treated for head and facial injuries.

No charges have been filed. Police said they were continuing their in vestigation.

Methodist women plan election event

CAMPAIGN 1994

Emory United Methodist Church Women will sponsor an Election Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, Church Road at Emory Street in Ellicott City.

The lunch includes chicken salad or ham salad, side dishes, beverage and dessert. Adults pay $6, children ages 6 to 12, $3. Children under 6 eat for free.

* Ellicott City: 4800 block of Dorsey Hall Drive: Someone tried to steal a 1993 Honda Accord Friday, police said.

9900 block of Old Frederick Road: A resident returned home and found the house alarm activated Saturday. A screen had been removed from a front window, police said.

* Elkridge: 7000 block of Old Waterloo Road: Burglars pried open the front door of a business trailer and took a copy machine Sunday, police said. They fled when an alarm sounded.
