Imagine dancing with that special someone beneath the light of a silvery moon.
Sounds wonderful, especially at this time of year when the glimmer of a full moon seems most noticeable.
The evenings are cool and crisp and stars sparkle in the sky. A light breeze shuffles fallen leaves from one place to another as earthly objects glisten from the moon's glow.
This could be the perfect scenario for an evening that includes stargazing, a hayride, or a night of dining and dancing.
If you find the last choice appealing, don't miss the 35th annual Silvery Moon Ball.
The Silvery Moon Ball will be held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at Wilhelm's Ltd. Caterers in Westminster.
The dinner dance is sponsored by the Carroll County General Hospital Auxiliary and serves as a fund-raising event to benefit the hospital.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and the music of the Helmut Licht Orchestra.
A sit-down dinner will be served at 8 p.m., followed by an evening of dancing until 1 a.m.
Joe Schaum, president of the auxiliary, said, "We started this in 1959 down in the old armory in Westminster. It has always been a very upbeat affair that has been a great success and a good fund-raiser for the hospital.
"We would really like to have people come out and support this event. It's just a wonderful evening out."
All funds from this year's ball are slated to help upgrade patient rooms, expand the emergency room and other projects scheduled for the hospital.
Ticket prices are $50 a person and include the dinner, dance and open bar.
Dress is semiformal. Tables of 10 and 12 are available.
