The Country Fare Inn will be reopening in its original location on Westminster Pike, now that Pearson's has closed. (Pearson's was one of several restaurants that the Country Fare Group tried there after the first Country Fare Inn moved to Owings Mills.)
Richard Pirone, a partner in the consortium -- which includes the Brass Elephant, Fiori and Kings Contrivance -- says he'd like to see a return to a country French menu, but nothing (including an opening date) has been settled yet. Meanwhile, the building is undergoing substantial repairs and renovations.
* Usually business slows down for Obrycki's as the crab season ends, but not this year.
"We thought the baseball strike would hurt us," says Rob Cernak, a member of the family that owns the East Baltimore seafood restaurant, "But it didn't. There's been a big demand for us to stay open, and a big mail-order demand for crabs as Christmas gifts." So for the first time in its 50-year history, Obrycki's -- which usually closes around now -- will stay open until Dec. 17.
* Piccolo's at Fells Point, the Italian seafood restaurant that opened in Fells Point last spring, has started offering Sunday brunch.
The menu has an Italian twist, with specialties like a roasted vegetable and caramelized onion frittata, poached eggs on pancetta and waffles with Tuaca-laced maple syrup. (Tuaca is an Italian liqueur.)
