A Baltimore man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly trying to steal more than $200 worth of merchandise from a Value Food store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road in Hanover, county police said.

A store security officer told police he saw a man put 16 boxes of Advil and five packs of Gillette Trac II razors in a red bag about 5 p.m. The man ran down the aisle after the security officer yelled for him to stop, police said.

The security officer caught the man near the store's office, recovered the merchandise and held him until police arrived.

Edgar Robert Williams, 21, of the 3400 block of Ash St. was charged with theft under $300, police said.
