McDonogh girls win in Virginia

Laurie Schwoy had two goals and two assists to lead top-ranked McDonogh to a 4-1 girls soccer victory over host Bishop O'Connell yesterday in Arlington, Va.

Natalie Cox added two goals for the Eagles (16-0-2), who are ranked No. 6 by USA Today, McDonogh had a 27-7 advantage in shots overBishop O'Connell (14-2-1), which fell out of the national poll from last week's No. 11 ranking.

Catholic 2, St. Mary's 1

Jen Monaldi and Nicole Brooks each scored first-half goals as host Catholic (5-7-1, 4-5-1) upset No. 12 St. Mary's (8-5-2, 7-3-1) in a Catholic League A Division contest. Corrine Butcher made five saves.
