As the result of an editing error, the first edition of The Sun yesterday stated incorrectly that independent groups can raise funds for Republican gubernatorial candidate Ellen R. Sauerbrey only if the groups coordinate with the Sauerbrey campaign. In fact, such fund raising is legal only if the groups do not coordinate with the campaign.
The Sun regrets the errors.
