Center renamed to honor Brunetto

Anne Arundel Medical Center has named its Jennifer Road complex in honor of Carl A. Brunetto, president emeritus of the health care organization.

The honor came at the annual meeting of the board of trustees of Anne Arundel Health Care Systems, the parent company of the medical center and its subsidiaries.

The medical park on Jennifer Road is part of an ambitious expansion of the hospital, which has its headquarters at Franklin and Cathedral streets downtown.

The park now consists of the Wellness Pavilion and the Surgery Pavilion. Two other facilities, the Medical Pavilion and an obstetrics and gynecology pavilion, will open in the spring.

Mr. Brunetto, an Arnold resident, was hired by the hospital in 1959 as assistant administrator.

He was administrator from 1979 to 1988, when he became president and chief executive officer of Anne Arundel Health Care Systems. He was named president emeritus of the not-for-profit organization earlier this month.

"Chuck's compassion and commitment for more than 35 years has inspired countless professionals to provide quality health care for the community," Dan McNew, chairman of the board of trustees said in a written statement. "Naming the Medical Park for Chuck is a small way for us to recognize his very significant contribution to our community."

The medical park will be dedicated in 1996, hospital officials said.
