SALISBURY -- Marc Thomas' 5-yard touchdown run with 15 seconds remaining lifted host Salisbury State over Newport News, 25-22, before 1,028 at Sea Gull Stadium yesterday.
Salisbury State (2-3) drove 72 yards in 12 plays on the winning drive.
Thomas' 25-yard pass to Todd Burrell set up the winning score. Thomas finished 15 of 29 for 172 yards, and Burrell made six
catches for 97 yards.
After trailing 19-7 in the fourth quarter, Newport News (4-3) took the lead with 2:48 remaining on Jermaine Bellamy's 9-yard touchdown run. Bellamy finished with 199 yards on 36 carries.
Frostburg 47, Brockport 17
FROSTBURG -- Fullback Kermit Nored produced his second three-touchdown performance of the season, on runs of 2, 1 and 1 yards, as Frostburg State (6-0) defeated SUNY-Brockport (3-3) before 2,400 at Bobcat Stadium.
Frostburg State broke from a close first quarter with 34 unanswered points. Sophomore Ron Wallace gave the Bobcats an early lead by returning a deflected pass 42 yards for a touchdown.
Winston-Salem 40, Bowie 14
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Quarterback Tremaine Graham connected with Oronde Gadsden for three touchdowns to lift Winston-Salem State over Bowie State before 15,675.
Gadsden caught touchdown passes of 60, 35 and 46 yards to finish with six catches for 203 yards to break the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association receiving touchdown mark of 38.
Running back Richard Huntley had 216 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns.
Bowie State running back Monty Bennett had 101 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries.
