2 women killed, 1 hurt in two-car collision
SALISBURY -- Two sisters-in-law were killed and a third woman injured yesterday when two cars collided at an intersection, state police said.
Police said Nancy B. Hazel, 63, of Delmar, Md., was driving a 1990 Mercury Topaz southbound on U.S. 13 around 1:45 p.m. and was turning left onto Naylor Mill Road when she failed to grant the right of way to a northbound 1992 Ford Thunderbird driven by Dawn E. Givens, 33, of Laurel, Del. The vehicles collided.
Pronounced dead at the scene were Ms. Hazel and her passenger, Violet Hazel, 59, of Florida.
Police said Ms. Givens suffered a broken wrist and was released following treatment at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The accident remained under investigation.
